The tour schedule
The tours starts at your hotel in Bath and finally finishes up at your hotel in Oxford. We travel to Castle Combe considered to be one of the most quintessential of English Villages in the UK. The village was used as a set location for War Horse, Doctor Dolittle and some of Agatha Christieís Poirot episodes. I love the river Bybrook that goes through it and quaint stone cottages and their tiles roofs. We walk part of the village to get a feel on how it was like 400 years ago as itís not change that much since then and afterwards along the river.
We then make our way onto Malmesbury to see the old market town and the area where sheep were sold. We will make a visit to Prince Charlesís shop and onto the Malmesbury Abbey. There are many tourist attractions in this town together with a river walk.
The best of the Cotswolds
We make our way onto Bibury and for me, this is the jewel in the crown of the Cotswolds. It has a river running through it with the purest water and a river weed that seems to shine and reflect in the sun. This creates the illusion of a dream like existence as the river becomes iridescent. The reflection and shadow adds to this effect and donít be disappointed as it only happens in direct sunlight which can not be guaranteed when you get here.
And now onto Bibury Court Hotel, many visitors who know the village well never come to this amazing place. Itís a Jacobean mansion on the edge of the village and has one of the best gardens in the UK. Itís an ideal venue to relax and savour the sights and sounds of nature. We normally have cream teas here and I will give you an introduction to making a good cup of tea. What ingredients you need, the type of pot and crockery, The East India Tea Company, preparation and the English tradition of afternoon tea. Tea is engrained in English culture for well over 400 years since Sir Walter Rayleigh brought it to Elizabeth I as a present from his explorations around the world.
What makes the tour special
We will make our way to Lower Slaughter and the Lower Slaughter Manor for late lunch on the croquet lawn which is also weather dependant. The schedule is only an example as we can design the tours to take into account your particular interests and the weather conditions prevailing at the time. We finally make our way onto Oxford to check into your hotel.
